Twelve years ago, David Kimpton began a new ministry for SGA when he arranged to sponsor needs in the Mytischi Orphanage just north of Moscow. On a recent visit we found the local church able to support this ministry themselves and so we were introduced to the Yakhroma Correction Home. Coats and gymnasium equipment have been funded so far. Then we commenced supporting other Orphan Homes: 1999 Vosnesenka—Siberia, 1999 Kivertsi—Ukraine and 2001 Krasny bor—Russia,
Following a visit to Lutsk by Richard Hemmingsen in 2004, he discovered a real need to support the local workers. Few could even afford the costs of travelling to their local schools, and they needed materials, supplies and gifts. Fruit is in demand, yet to give to even one class, let alone more than one class a week was impossible. So began our support of the workers in Lutsk.
We are so grateful and reliant on those who still give to the orphanages named above but now we have needs in many others. Rather than have 20 –30 open projects, we have decided to group projects into areas. Gifts given to say Vosnesenka, unless there is a current need, will be used for other Children’s workers or orphanage needs in that region.
In this issue we summarise most of the areas NZ has agreed to help as funds are raised.
