In the Footsteps of Jesus

Pastor Oleg is a faithful servant in Ukraine who ministers to many whom the world might just pass by. “There is one family of a mother and daughter who is 12 years old. The mother’s name is Iryna. She works as a teacher in a municipal kindergarten. She is divorced and raising her daughter alone. Her daughter Yaryna has the status of a disabled child. Unfortunately, she has a serious illness—rheumatoid arthritis complicated by gluten and lactose intolerance. She needs a set of expensive medicines and a special diet every month. Iryna earns a minimum monthly salary and works additional part-time jobs wherever she can to provide her daughter with the necessary treatment. Her husband left the family when he found out about his daughter’s disease. Now he is fighting at the front, helping only with minimal financial support. After a missile fell near their building in 2022, they are still repairing their apartment, but they do not have enough money. Yaryna is a very quiet child, yet she knows how to enjoy life despite the constant stress of air raids.

Iryna and her daughter came to our church for help and were invited to a Sunday worship service. The girl became interested in attending children’s programs and a club for girls called “Hostess.” Iryna was very touched by the attention she received, she wanted to do something in the church and stayed to clean up after the children’s program.

She really liked the Christian songs, the atmosphere in the church, and asked a lot of questions about everything the preacher was saying. Now she attends the service every Sunday, has made friends with the sisters in the church, and wants to help physically whenever she can. Iryna asks a lot of questions about the Bible and wants to join a Bible study group. For this, I am very grateful to the Lord for working with her heart today.”

Praise God that He sees us, knows us, and seeks to turn our hearts to Himself, and His loving mercy and grace.

Pray for those suffering and with no hope in this world. Pray that God opens their eyes and draws them to Jesus and to a local church.

Pray for all the SGA-supported church pastors who minister to the least of these, that they will not be discouraged or lose heart, being ever ready to minister to the least of these.
