Kursk Relief

The stories flow in from Kursk, as SGA fund aid that has been locally purchased and prepared, is with churches on the front-line providing aid for IDPs (internally displaced person).  This is one of several stories, but for SGA our response is the same – equipping faithful churches for the work of ministry.  As IDP’s flee, they are hearing the Gospel of Jesus Christ through these churches and for those that believe, the warmth and care of the family of God.

‘Yesterday we served people at two locations. There were two teams of us, and we mingled with the locals to share our experiences. There were fewer people than the day before, but we had a number of good conversations. I gave a few people the New Testament as a gift after the conversation, gave some people my phone contacts, and local church ministers and explained how we could further help them. One can see pain in people’s eyes, as they have left everything behind. However, it’s a good occasion to talk to them about things that cannot be taken away and a strong foundation that cannot be destroyed.

The hearts of these people are open to the Gospel, as they gratefully receive God’s Word, and God’s words of blessing. Please pray for the hearts of those whom we serve, that we would communicate wisely with people amid their grief, share the Gospel of Christ and build long-term relationships. Pray also about the local church to understand how to reach out to them faithfully.

We prayed together with some, comforting those who wept, and talked with others. Many took the New Testament, the book that will help build up their souls!’
